WOOL MARKET IS SATISFACTORY IN Sydney, Australia, Feb. 13.--De- spite a depression during the last few months of the year, the wool market in Australia and New Zea- land was highly satisfactory in 1930, and in the final analysis the wool cheque was the second largest ever received for the golden fleece in the two Dominions. The total received was close to $350,000,000, a decrease of approximately $20,000,000 as com- pared with the previous year, when a record was estahlished, Leaders in the wool industry do not anticipate a world surplus, but jae declare that growers should reconcile themselves to a lower level of prices than has been ruling for for the last two or three years. "There have been many adverse factors militating against a continu- ance of the high prices which were ruling for wool a year ago," said one of the biggest men in the trade re- cently. "In the first place, prices had been forced so high that busi- ness became restricted due to the greater use of cheaper substitutes, such as artificial silk.
