Mr. and Mrs. Bert Glaspell, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Stainton had tea at Mrs. Ross Lee's on Sunday. The January meeting of the Wo- men's Association met at the home of Mrs. Harold Gifford when quite a few ladies were present. Mrs, Fice presided; hymns were sung. and prayers were offered. The Scripture lesson was read by Mrs. Wm. Beck- ell; roll call was responded to by a selection on New Year's; treasurer's report and flower committee report were read. It was decided to hold a parcel post at the open meeting on Feb. 14 at the church, Valentine to be subject for roll call. Each lady of the community is asked to bring a parcel to sell. No parcel to be worth more than 25c. Home made candy will also'be sold, and a chil dren's corner is being arranged, Mrs. Arnott gave a splendid paper on the New Year, emphasizing - the oppor- tunity of making 1930 better than 1929. Mrs. Thos, Martin sang a solo. The group, Mrs. Gifford, Mrs. @G. Short and + Mrs. Jesse Arnott, served very tasty and delightful re freshments for which they were ac corded a hearty vote of thanks. Mrs. Wesley Glaspel is out around again after a very heayy seige of cold, Mrs, Tracy Glaspell and chil- dren are also convalescing from colds, . : Master Keith Stainton has had bronchitis but is improving. SCOUT NOTES Friday The Fifth Troop met on the last at the 'usual hour, in Y.M.CA. Owing to a variety of reasons, in- cluding duty at the arena, the wea ther, and sicness, several boys were away. So it was thought advisable to have a general meeting at which games took the major portion of the time, « The meeting closed with the usual yarn after which the flag was low ered.
