HELPFUL HINTS Leather straps on trunks or suit cases get very stiff if they are not used frequently. If they are soaked in hot soapy water and dried in the open air they will become$pliable again, If they are then well rubbed with linseed oil this will preserve the leather, Keep a small bottle of kerosene oil in the bathroom closet, where it is handy for polishing the porcelain bathtub and wash bowl Bl ----.-- If the candle is too large for the holder just hold the end in hot wa- ter and you will be able to easil press it to fit the candlesticks. This gives a smoother finish than shaving it with a knife. ---- Lamb croquettes are nice served on a bed of rice that has been well cooked in stock and it wil limprove the tlavor to brush the rice and the croquettes with a little very stiff as- pic jelly that has been heated. Save your coffee grounds, dry them in the oven and use them on :| the knife board instead of knife pow- der. You will be surprised at the result. A pinch of carbonate of soda sprinkled on the knife board with the grounds saves time and labor, To prevent the edges of smail mats curling, take some small strips of linoleum the width of the mat and about six inches long. Pierce some holes in the linoleum with a gimlet and then neatly stitch to the under side of the mat with fine twine. seVictor BD Osthoph Now : reduced to-- ' Bring in a used Victor Record for each new one and get them for Records 6c 99 Victor Records for 65 cents . . . for 55 centc--1{ you tuiu wu a used Victor Record for each new 10 in.
