In the south-west ward, 548 out of 2,077 el- ectors, or 27 per cent, and 434 out of 790 owners, or 55 per cent, voted; in the south-east ward, 946 out of 3, 1 clectors or 28 per cent, and out of 1407 owners or 42 per cent. voted; in the north-west ward 488 out of 2,064 electors or 23 per cent. and 3Qp out of 776 owners, or 40 per cent.; and in the north-east ward 804 out of 7,224 electors or 25 per cent, out of 1313 owners or 44 per cent. voted. In the last election, 36 per cent. of the electors exercised their fran- chise, 3,455 electors casting their bal- lots in the mayoralty contest. The vote this year was good, however, considering the fact that there was no keenly contested mayoral race to bring out the vote.
