Sinclair (By Canadian Press) Toronto, Mar, 28.--~The members of the Ontario legislature will meet at 3 o'clock this afternoon for the form- al ceremonies attending the proroga- tion of the 3rd session of the 17th legislature. Sitting until 4 o'clock this morning the legislature of a mass of business. In the final business session which began in the afternoon, the govern- ment was sustained on four diyi- sions by substantial majorities. Most of the contentious legislation of the session had been disposed of but leaders in the house clashed during the day and early this morning on a bill to increase the gasoline tax from thrée cents to 5 cents a gallon, W .E. N. Sinclair, Liberal leader, pro- tested strongly as the bill went through various stages that the gov- ernment was not acting fairly in bringing in the measure in the last hours of the session, Pfemier Ferguson retorted that there had been ample notification but that the tactics of the opposition had delayed earlier presentation of the nieasure, Divisions Forced 'The Liberal leader forced a division on second reading of the gasoline tax bill, the government being sustained 62 to 28.
