Euler, Minister of National Rev- enue, has collected during the past week about $2,000,000 on account of arrears of sales and gallonage taxes from. various breweries and distilleries. The Department of National Revenue declines to make public the names of those brewers and distillers from whom this large amount has been collected. It is understood, however, that the ar- rears were discovered as a resalt of the investigation carried on by the Royal Commission on Cus- toms. Already large amounts have been collected from a number of other brewers and dis.illers.
