Luncheon being served by members of the Ladies' Aid, We regret to report that Mr. John Leask, who was present at the meet- ing and seemingly in good . health, was taken suddenly ill on his return home and died Friday morning. The annual meeting of the Port Perry branch of the Women's Auxil- fary was held in the parish hall of the Church of the Ascension on Tues- day afternoon, Jan. 15. There was a good attendance last night at the high school when a mo- tion picture demonstration showing recent advances in telephone com- munication was given by Mr. H. M. Black, District Manager of the Bell Telephone Co., assisted by Mr, Grad- well, of Oshawa. We regret to report that Mr. W. Willard is at present on the sick list. We hope he will soon be restored to health. On the occasion of the ninth birth- day of the Scugog Chapter of the 1.O.D.E. the Order held a birthday party in their rooms on Monday, Jan. 14. There were about forty members present and a very merry evening was enjoyed by all. Mrs.. Albert Bruce, Mr. Gordon Bruce and little daughter of Alberta, are going to stay in Port Perry for the winter. She was also the guest of the I.O.D.E. at their birth- day party on Monday evening. On Friday afternoon, Jan, 11, the funeral of the late Miss Eliza Jane Moore of Manchester, took place from the Church of the Ascension, Port Perry; the service was conduet- ed by the rector, Rev. T. A. Nind. Interment was in Pine Grove ceme- tery. Among the mourners was Mrs. J. B. Stall of Geneva, N.Y,, Dr. Stall and Mrs. F. M.
