Luke’s Country Store has been a destination shop in Port Perry since it was first opened in 1976 by Wayne and Caroline Luke. The story expanded to include the building to the east in 1988, where they opened the Victorian Card Shop. The busi- ness was purchased in 2009 by Teri and Ron Ven- ner in who continue to operate this popular destina- tion store under the name - Luke’s For Home. Amarina has operated at the same loca- tion along Port Perry’s waterfront for more than 60 years. The above picture shows the facility when it was known as Orde’s Marina and was being operated by long- time resident John Orde. As can be seen by the above photo, Mr. Orde pumped Su- pertest gas and had boat slips along the lakefront. The new Port Perry Marina, right, was built in 1985 and it has been operated since that time by John Mackey. 56 FOCUS - APRIL 2015
