Dear Editor: Focus is an important part of our town Dear Editor I couldn’t believe it has been 10 years since your publication started. It’s a must read for me each month to find out what is going on in our town. The articles are excellent and I read them all. Speaking as a volunteer in the community who has asked you many times to run announcements (Bakers- ville and SOUP), you never let us down. Thank you so much for being a very important part of our beautiful town. Looking forward to the next 10 years! Sue Bradley Port Perry Heart campaign raises over $19,000 Dear Editor Ihave just packed up all the returned kits and banked the money from donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The Person to Person campaign in Scugog Township was incredibly successful in spite of the extreme cold throughout February. We have raised over $19,000 go- ing door to door; hoping each door would be opened. With many online donations still to be tabulated, we are sure to reach our goal of $20,000. Thank you canvassers who bundled up and headed into the icy wind to reach your neighbour's front door. Thank you neighbours for opening that door to the worst wintery blast in years and giving so generously. Ihave requested Heart Month be moved to July next year. Best wishes, Julie Curran, President Scugog Chamber Teri Venner & Lana Crosbie, Co-Chairs Port Perry BIA Focus is always an informative read Dear Editor I picked up my mail on my way home late last night, happy to find the March issue of Focus on Scugog magazine. After opening the magazine in the car (before the overhead light dimmed down to off), I saw looking back at me, John Tullett and Adrienne Grant from Young Life. Great picture of them. I will be reading the article thoroughly as I sip my wine, (I mean tea) tonight. (smile) Tlove the Focus on Scugog monthly magazine! It is always a good informative read. Something else I look for in the magazine is the “Ladies of Distinction” picture featured in the” Rosario ae Styles” advertisement. It’s always nice to see a face with a new hair style. Congratulations on your 10th Anniversary. Janice Kav Port Perry ‘Anniversary’ continued from page 11 That’s quite an endorsement when you consider his career began almost 55 years ago, working part-time for his parents at the Uxbridge Times-Journal. He points out, the Focus on Scugog team makes coming to work every day a pleasure. “We don’t take ourselves too seriously, although we are very focused on producing a quality product that we and the community can be proud of,” he added. So that’s the story about the little magazine that grew 12 FOCUS - APRIL 2015 from an simple idea into one of Scugog’s most valued publications. The enthusiastic attitude of the staff, combined with the positive stories about Scugog Township, have proved to be a winning combination, and a key to suc- cess, paving the way for many more commemorative anniversaries to look forward to in the years to come. Happy 10th, Focus on Scugog! by Lynn Campbell Focus on Scugog
