Jim Lawrence Jim Lawrence has spent a good part of his life in Scugog. He operated Bruton’s Drug Store on Queen St. for many years and then was the familiar smiling face behind the counter at Durham Pharmacy in the Medical Associates building. Jim's volunteer efforts are well-known, plentiful and varied. The Port Perry Kinsmen Club hon- ured him with Kinsmen of the Year, voted him Club President and he received the Master Kinsmen Award, before going on to become Kinsmen District Governor, National Director and honoured with Life Membership. He has carried on his humanitarian and volunteering through the Rotary Club of Port Perry, serving as president and being named Rotarian of the Year and recipient of the Paul Harris Fellows Award. He was a director on the Scugog Chamber of Commerce, on the board of Scugog Memorial Public Library, and a member of the Port Perry Hospital Foundation for the past 10 years. Jim is also active with the Port Perry United Church having served as chair of the Board of Stewards. Enci Dhanoosingh Enci has been a very active senior who has volunteered her time and boundless energy to the Seniors Club for over 15 years. She has played a huge part in redefining the word Senior in this community by encouraging and assisting the club to have a more active lifestyle and broadening talents and skills among the mem- bers. Gord Humphrey Gord was a teacher at Port Perry High School who's volun- teering went well beyond the class- room and normal extra curricular activities, coaching and teaching Sports two to three seasons in every one of his 32 years. In the 1980s Gord coached cross country skiing and running at the high school. He was on the executive of the Southern Ontario Division of Cross Country Canada and was selected to be part of an International Coaching Assignment with the national cross country team in 1988. Gord sits on the Board of the Port Perry Curling Club and co-ordinates an after school program for 12 to 18-year- olds. He also became involved in his local school Advisory Council and was their chair for a number of years and was also FA Beaver leader for 10 years. She is a member of oe tae Advisory Committe has provided valuable advice and input on how the Township can improve the life and well-being of seniors in our community. As a long time member of the Historical Society, Enci was actively involved in the planning and maintenance of the vegetable and herb garden at the Scugog Shores Museum, a valuable addition to demonstrate the day-to-day living of the pioneers of Scugog particularly to our school children. In addition, Enci is a volunteer for Community Care in many capacities. She can often be seen on the dance floor line dancing or boogeying with friends and members of the Seniors Club. le is an active and involved member of Big Brothers/ Big sae of North Durham and has made a huge difference in the lives of those youngsters whom he has mentored and who he works with regularly, sometimes being called in for emergency situations. le has won a number of awards over the years for his tremendous contributions to youth in sports.
