The wharf extend- ed 350 feet out into the lake where rail cars would unload, or load, cargo and lumber from the steamships, like the Victoria, seen in this picture. Note all the logs piled along the shoreline. Above left - This view of the Port Perry shoreline was taken about 1880 from Scu- gog Island. It shows the industrial use of the lakefront, including Currie’s grain elevator, and a view of the downtown and further up the hill to Cochrane Street.
