Scugog Christian School is located at 14480 Old Simcoe Rd. South, in Port Perry, at the rear of the Hope Church. Tucked away just south of Port Perry is a school that many don't realize exists Scugog Christian School may be a mystery to those who are unfamiliar with it - but for those families whose children attend - it’s the best kept secret in Scugog. Grandparent's day is a highlight of the year at the Scugog Christian School. In early May, students’ grandparents will arrive at the bright and airy school to complete classroom activi- ties with their grandchildren. A student lead tour of the school’s five sunny classrooms, library with computer lab, gym, and common room will follow. After a lunch prepared by parents, the guests will then enjoy musical performances staged by each class. Next year the performance may be the school’s annual musical that involves each student. Grandparent's day is just one example of the strong sense of community that staff strive to build at the Scu- gog Christian School. Located behind the Hope Christian Reformed Church on Old Simcoe Road in Prince Albert, but operating independently of any church, the school has an interdenominational student body of 55 students in junior kindergarten through grade eight. Eight teaching staff, including an early childhood Hannah Hoog discovers butterflies during one of the many pro- grams at Scugog Christian School. educator who provides before and after school care, de- liver a full academic program based on Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum. All teaching staff are Ontario Certified Teachers who undergo a background police check. Key to the school’s instruction is positive nurtur- ing, individualized attention, a biblical perspective and “values that compliment what parents are instilling in their children,” said grades one and two teacher Barb Buldyke.
