Firefighters 60 hour Rooftop Campout Port Perry and Caesarea firefighters will be climbing ladders to the rooftop of Harp & Wylies later this month, where they will camp out for 60 hours over the weekend. The corner of Water and Mary St. will be a busy spot from Fri- day evening May 16 until 8 a.m. Monday morning, with all kinds of activities, The public is invited to drop by and watch, take part or just talk with some of the local firefighters. The Rooftop Campout will get underway at 6:30 p.m. on Fri- day with an opening ceremony in Palmer Park. On Saturday there will be a dunk tank, where participants can dunk a firefighter for asmall donation, a free bouncy castle for the kids and the fire safety house will be open. In addition there will be live music and great prizes. Some of the activities continue on Sunday. Although the event is free, the firefighters will graciously re- ceived notations. There will be lots of great prizes, concert tickets, gift baskets , gift cards and more. This is the Port Perry Firefighters Association and Caesarea Firefighters Association’s largest fundraising event of the year and they are hoping to raise $20,000 during the event for the Mus- cular Dystrophy Association. The local firefighters raised $29,000 over the first two years. Darren Coles, chairperson for the CFA, says the event wouldn't be possible without the support of so many peoy and the businesses. “We have high school volunteers, Pcbyhters and local businesses who all help or donate so that we can raise money for CFA,” he explained.
