Thumbs We're not sure if it’s the hot summer, or people are just grumpy, but a number of local readers of this column have got a beef this month. So here goes... Thumbs Down - to people who throw their cigarette butts and garbage out of their cars at corner Prinersectons around town, leaving litter for residents to pick up. One home owner says, “Every day we have to go out and pick up some sort of garbage off of our lawn or driveway.” Hey motorists, | Your A Wealth ©) Chiropractic CHIROPRACTIC & 905-985-3624 ACUPUNCTURE 175 North Street, EE Lee ue §=§6Port Perry Dr. Dwayne Hooper BSc, DC www.yourhealthchiro.ca Gina & Joey’s Mafia Wedding August 31st, 6:30 p.m. Fantastic Buffet Dinner Limited Tickets Call 647-899-3342 or www.mafiawedding. evenbrite.com Psychic Readings Every Tuesday, 3pm-9 pm $40 per readin: (to be paid before reading) * WATCH THE IMMER OLYMPICS UPSTAIRS ON OUR BIG SCREEN TV! esters Courr 279 Queen St., Port Perry 905-985-2775 ¢ www.jesterscourt.ca OR JUST ENJOY A /REFRESHMENT ON OUR PATIO 412 FOCUS - AUGUST 2012 08.FOCUS, AUGUST.32 pgsindd 12 let's have some respect for others’ propery. Stash your trash until you get home!!! Thumbs Down - Speaking of trash, another Focus on Scugog reader suggests a ‘thumbs down’ to the Pron school students who litter local lawns and side streets on their way to and from downtown during their lunch break. He says, “It’s great the kids support the local businesses, but unfortunate they use our streets and lawns as a garbage can”. We agree!!! Thumbs Down - a frequent user of local taxi services gives a huge thumbs down to the drivers who sit in rer seats and watch customers struggle when she has her hands full of items. She says although they are friendly, they are not helpful and suggests they not be so lazy and “get off your darn behinds and open the sliding back door for your passenger”. Now wouldn’t that be a nice gesture! Thumbs Down -A Scugog St. resident wants to give a ‘thumbs down’ to the many trucks and cars that come speeding down the hill on Scugog St. (7A Hwy.), hoping to make it through the lights at Water Street before the light changes. He’s also unhappy with the large trucks that come down the hill at high speeds and apply noisy air brakes — quite frequently in the quiet hours of the night and early morning. Thumbs Down - and finally, another thumbs down suggestion - this time to boaters who park their Ponce, with boat trailers attached in the parking lot on Water St., behind the CIBC. In particular, one fisherman who took up five parking spots with his rig, on Saturday of the Canada Day long weekend. We assume it was to save the parking fee near the boat launch. Thumbs Up - We'd like to end on a positive note - giving the township and all its volunteers a huge “thumbs 3g up” for the spectacular Canada Day celebration and fireworks last month - a thrill for the thousands enjoying the festivities. Canada Day celebrations are one of the two largest family events of the year, along with the Santa Claus parade. What a great community! 12-07-23 9:04AM
