S¢lutions Time fora New Website? 905-982-0450 info@cmswebsolutions.com www.cmswebsolutions.com Tims Thumbs Down - on the suggestion of one of our valued readers, we're giving a ‘thumbs down’ this month ©& to inconsiderate people who purchase coffee and fast food in Port Perry, then throw their empty containers out their car window as they arrive near Black- Stock. This may leave the inside of their car free from garbage and clutter, but whatever happened to taking your garbage home to your own garbage can? ©) Thumbs Up - to Dana Smith, owner of Dana’s —, Goldsmithing Inc., who produced the winning design for this years “Christmas Angel.” To mark the 10 year anniversary of the charity angel, the Canadian Jewellery Group challenged their 95 members to submit a design. Dana’s design won and the omament will be on sale across Canada in time for Christmas. Thumbs Down - to the group of anti-abortionists who ventured into Port Perry last month, flashing dis- gusting pictures of aborted fetuses at pedestrians, business owners and motorists along 7A Hwy. The apparent ‘shock’ tactics used by these extremists has no place in our community and we hope our town fathers (and mothers) can find a way to curb this in future. Thumbs Up - to Birdhouse Willy for his ongoing gener- @) osity to the community and committment to his feathered friends. For more than 20 years Bill and J his helpers have cared for purple martin houses in Scugog’s Rotary Park. Removing the houses from their 14’ perch, Bill cleans out the nests and replaces them. Last month, at his own expense he installed a half dozen spanking new six-room houses. Thanks Bill. Thumbs Up - to the Great Blue Heron on their recent golf () tournament. They raised $175,000 for Port Perry 3) Hospital Foundation and the Starlight Foundation, bringing their donations to over $1 million since they began the tournament 15 years ago. Amazing! 20 FOCUS - OCTOBER 2010
