THE BOARDWALK ART FAIR The first annual Boardwalk Art Fair , sponsored by the Scugog Council for the Arts, takes place along Port Perry’s beautiful new boardwalk in Palmer Park later this month. Visitors and patrons will be | able to stroll along the waterfront to view and purchase original works by regional and provincial artists in all a es of media. In addition to the the “Boardwalk Art Fair” on Sunday, September 26, the Port Perry BIA will welcome visitors to Queen St. to enjoy special events and a chili cook-off as part of the annual “Celebrate the Harvest” event. Admis- sion to both events is free and the “Boardwalk Art Fair” will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. UNITED WAY KICK-OFF Anyone who has ever attended the Port Perry United Way campaign kick-off will want to come out again this year on September 15. Here’s a chance to show your community spirit by attending our 3rd Annual Campaign Kick-Off! See local politicians cooking up free hamburgers for all who attend! Cheer 4 on your favourite team in our Tricycle Race ¢ on Perry Street with local businesses vying to win the coveted Tour de Perry Trophy! Enjoy the live entertainment of Irwin Smith! Guaran- teed laughs and smiles. Don’t miss it - Wednesday, Septem- ber 15 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on Perry St., in front of the municipal office. OUT OF THE ASHES The Scugog Shores Heritage Centre and Archives will be featuring a new exhibit starting on September 9. The exhibit will be called “Out of the Ashes” and is in partnership with the Scugog Council for the Arts. Drawing on inspiration from exist- =| ing artifacts i in the Scugog Museum's = anniversary of the rebuilding of Port Ee 1 Perry after the devastating fire of 1884, SCA artists will create an original work of art which will then be displayed alongside the artifact in the gallery. This new exhibit will run from September 9 to No- vember 7, with an opening event being held on Sunday, September 12, from 1 - 4 p.m. in the afternoon.
