Myles O'Riordan (seen above), owner of the Wagg Funeral Home, established the “Flags of Our Heroes” display to honour Canada’s soldiers earlier this year and regretfully places a flag in the display whenever a Cana- dian soldier is killed in the ongoing conflict. “One of the unmarked flags is for Corporal Matthew Dinning of Wingham, Ont., who was killed in action on April 22, 2006. His father, Lincoln, was a licensed funeral director and a friend of mine when we both lived in Au- rora,” says Myles. “ It is a privilege to be able to honour his memory in this small way.” The “Flags of Our Heroes” display was built by Myles and his friend Bill Connolly. Some of the material was donated by Paul and Ian Griffin of Lake Scugog Lumber. What a fitting tribute to our soldiers. “Scugog’s locally owned and operated General Insurance Broker” With over 130 years of Broker experience, Emmerson Insurance Brokers Ltd. have been serving Scugog Township and surrounding areas with Competitive, Comprehensive and Personalized service since 1917. 193 Queen Street, Port Perry, Ontario 905-985-7306 1-800-387-5642 FOCUS - MARCH 2010 13
