Northwood Zoo welcomes ‘Titan’ the loveable, grizzly As sure as the arrival of spring... the melting of snow and the last remnants of ice on Lake Scugog - new life appears. In the case of Northwood Zoo, it’s a time when many of the animals awake from the cold winter with little bundles of ener- genic fur beside them. Norm Phillips dropped by the Focus on Scugog office last month with one of the latest arrivals - an eight week old grizzl bear. Born during the first week of March, the 20 Ib. ball of fur, (pictured with owner Norm Phillips) invaded the office to take part in a photo shoot to help promote the opening of the zoo for the 2009 season. When fully grown, Titan will stand about eight feet tall and weigh close to 900 Ibs. Northwood has seven full grown griz- zlies and two 1,200 Ib. kodiak bears at the zoo. Northwood Zoo opens on Saturday, May 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will be open until October. This year marks the 12th season for Northwood Zoo, which you will find conven- iently located just north of Port Perry at 2192 Cookston Lane, RR. #2 Seagrave, O1 For additional information check the Northwood Zoo website at: www.northwoodzoo.com or call them at 905-985-2738. 1 Wa? aney'| Opening in 2009 tt ; | ont?
