Art show and Sale at Ocala Farm Winery Aglimpse of local artistic talent from Scugog Township will be on display next month at Ocala Winery, as the members of the Port Perry Artists’ Association present selec- tions for their annual Christmas Art Show. An extensive variety of paintings in, acrylics, watercolour, oil, pastel and mixed media, from artists will be on display and for sale. Visitors are invited to come out and enjoy this beautiful country set- ting atop the Oak Ridges Moraine. There will be painting demonstra- tions and a free draw. While visiting the show, why not enjoy a little wine tasting and bou- tique shopping. The winery itself is housed within a renovated 100 year tank room, warehouse, lab, and tasting room are all on site. Ocala’s vineyard is made up of Riesling, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Auxerrios, Muscat, Vidal, Seyval, Baco Noir, Marechal Foch, Caber- net Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. As new blocks of vineyard are plant- ed not all varieties are in full produc- tion. The artists will be featured at Ocala Winery, 971 High Point Road — Hwy. #12, 2km south of Manches- ter. The show, in partnership with the Township of Scugog and Scugog Coun- cil for the Arts (SCA), presents the juried exhibition and sale of fine craft and visual art by SCA members each fall. Each spring, an independent jury se- lects a fresh, exciting collection of exhibi- tors for Showcase of the Arts, resulting in a dynamic and appealing collection of high caliber artwork. Twenty-five talented artisans will dis- play a variety of artistic creations includ- ing paintings, photography, sculpture in wood and clay, jewellery, fibre, glass and more. Exhibitors will be on site to demon- strate their techniques and discuss their creative processes. The SCA and Township of Scugog are pleased that visitors from near and far have voiced overwhelming approval of the show, praising the friendly volunteers and gifted exhibitors as well as the high quality, interesting variety and reason- able prices of artwork displayed at the event. Proceeds from ticket sales are used to fund cultural initiatives in the local community. Among the Scugog area artists who will be exhibiting at Showcase of the Arts are: Ron Belton (acrylic paintings), Joanna Malcolm (watercolours), Pamela Meacher (Watercolours & Books), Dini & Barry Page (weaving and woodworking), Karen Richardson (watercolours) and Ray Young (woodturnings). Inaddition there will be 20 artists from all over Durham Region and as far away as Mississauga and Peterborough, show- ing paintings, photography, jewellery, pot- tery, silk clothing and teddy bears. Ten of the artists are exhibiting at Showcase of the Arts for the first time. Once again, this year’s show will be held in the spacious main hall of the Scu- gog Community Recreation Centre, 1655 Reach St. in Port Perry. Show dates are November 1 and 2, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. There is a nominal admis- sion fee; children 14 and under will be ad- mitted for free when accompanied by an adult.
