Tree sale raises about $2,000 for Scouting group The Port Perry Beavers, Cubs and Scouts annual Christmas tree sales went exceptionally well this year. Doug Morden, member of the Parent's Advisory Com- mittee and organizer of the tree sale, said the group sold out of trees one week early. The group had anticipat- ed selling the Christmas trees until Saturday, Dec. 21 but sold the 250 trees by Saturday, Dec. 14. Ellen Greenough of the parent's advisory commit- tee said the group raised about $2,000 through the venture. The money will go toward camping equipment and ex- cursions for the Beavers, Cub and Scouts, covering the cost of different district events and Kub Kar Kits for the Cub members. Mrs. Greenough com- mended Mr. Morden on a job well done in organizing the sales. She also said the group appreciates the efforts of many local individuals who helped in the venture, in- cluding Chic Carnegie for helping collect the trees and the use of his truck, Lake Scugog Lumber for the use of their truck, Canadian: Tire for space to sell the trees, and Bridgeport Signs for the new sign. The group would also like to thank the community for its continued support.
