This number is down slightly from last month's 348 sales, al- though year-to-date fig- ures are 50 per cent over 1990. This trend of a slowdown during the hol- 'iday season is tradition- al, according to Anne Briscoe, FRI, CMR, Pres- ident of ODREB. "A drop in sales at this time of year is not unusual,' says Anne, "Last year, there were 390 sales in October, 355 in Novem- ber and only 239 in De- cember. Consumers are more occupied with the holiday season." The average price for November was $152,378.00, which is ac- tually higher than No- vember 1990, when it was $150,279.00. This is the first time this year that the average price for the month has exceeded the average for the same month in 1990. "We are seeing more activity in the mid-range priced homes," says Anne, "people waiting to trade up or purchase a larger family home have decided to take advan- tage of the lower interest rates, reduced prices and the wide assortment of homes on the market. We have some indication that the market may be on the move again." The Oshawa & District Real Estate Board is a trade association which represents about 1,100 REALTORS throughout the Durham Region. RE- ALTOR is a registered certification mark which identifies real estate li- censees who are mem- bers of ODREB and as such abide by a strict Code of Ethics and Stan- dards of Business Prac- tice.
