Cornish Pub- lic School placed third and eighth respectively at the Dur- ham Cross Country Finals at Two Township of Scugog residents were awarded for Trillium Valley. The Port Perry High School junior volleyball team captured LLOSSA gold and the midgets won the silver. The Canadian Tire Midgets fought their way to the C final of the Oakwood tournament. The Malmont Atom As de- feated the host team from King City to win the championship of the King City hockey tourna- ment. Doug Scott and Carolyn Best of Scugog Township were hon- ored for their years of volunteer work with local recreational as- sociations. The two residents were presented with the Corps d'Elite awards at the inaugural meeting of Scugog Township Rick Klock, 22, of Port Perry placed second in the world at the the World Arm-Wrestling Championships held in Israel in November. Klock competed in the 136-150 pound divi- sion. The World Championships attracted 230 wrestlers from all over the world. The Canadian Tire Midgets lost to Creemore in the consola- tion final of the Stayner tourna- ment. DECEMBER 1991 The Port Perry ladies curlin rink of Kelly Evans, Laura Griffen, Carol Jackson and Donna Fairman placed second in the Rent and Save bonspiel held in Port Perry. Precious Bunny, the record breaking horse owned by Peter Heffering was retired this month. Jason Pascoe, 19, and his horse Cassidy County placed ninth out of 63 competitors in the prestigious Radner Hunt Three-Day Eventing Competi- tion held in Pennsylvania. He was the top Canadian and for- eign competitorin the event. The Greenbank Public School Intermediate boys vol- leyball team defeated Scott Central to claim the Durham Central Volleyball Finals. council. The Pearce Auction Novice squad defeated Peterborough to bring home the gold from the Ennismore hockey tourna- ment. Scugog Overhead Doors Pee Wees reached the champion- ship of the Ennismore tourna- ment. The squad lost the cham- pionship match to a team from Peterborough. Several members of the Port Perry Figure Skating Club won medals at recent skating com- petitions. The junior girls volleyball team from Cartwright Public School were runners-up in Area 1in the volleyball finals. The Port Perry MoJacks con- tined their winning ways. The club extended its win streak to six games with victories over Bowmanville and the Cobourg Cougars. The Pineridge Atom Bs won the consolation final at the Bob- cageon tournament. a Ee --
