A look back at exciting moments in local sports The Port Perry Midget As knocked off Mooretown four games to one to win the Midget BB All-Ontario hockey championships in April. Emiel's defeated Larocque Electric for the Pee Wee house league crown. Whitby Auto Wreckers' victo- ry over Lake Scugog Lumber gave them the Atom house league crown. The Midget B squad came within one game of winning the All-Ontario crown. Petrolia took the championship. Van Camp Contracting de- feated Re/Max: for the Novice house league crown. The Framers Gallery won the ELECTRIC gold medal in the Tier II divi- Sion of the Broomball Region- als. Skatefest '91, the end-of-the- year Skating Carnival for the Port Perry Figure Skating Club was a success. The theme of the carnival was "Beach Party." Swamp Garage/B&R Electric defeated Monsma in the broom- ball play-offs to win the Port Perry league crown. Norton's Home Improve- ments, Crandellsand J&D Car- pentry captured the A, B, and C division championships in the Scugog Men's Hockey League. Members of the Cartwright Public School wrestling team won medals at the Ontario fi- nals. Six members of the Port SWAMP Jody Logan, Dave Pashley, Jeff Brett and Todd ave Bourgeois, Larry Pilkey and manager Wendy Perry High School rugby team were selected to be members of the Canada under-15 rugby team. Paul Harrison, a CCPS wres- tler, qualified for the Canadian Championships in Saskatche- wan. MAY 1991 Klye Teffler, a Grade 8 stu- dent at Sunderland Public School, won a gold medal at the All-Canadian wrestling cham- pionshipsin Saskatchewan. The 19th annual ModJacks end-of-the-year banquet was held. Guests included Brad May, Kevin McClelland, Sherry Bassin, George Burnett and Clair Cornish. The Bantam boys fastball team came up finalists at the Bramalea tournament. The annual Blackstock Truck and Tractor Pull was a resounding success.
