Big V lose tough match to Sutton Pee Wees On Dec. 14 in Pee Wee House League exhibition play it was the Big V team matched up against the Sutton Whalers. Sutton came out flying in the first period and caught the Big V players a bit flat footed and quickly opened up a 2-0 lead on goals by Steve Vandermeer and Scott Howes with Ronnie Keeping picking up the assist. Big V now turned their play up a notch and started to apply the pressure but were turned back time and time again by Sutton's goal tender Jessie Bond. Finally with only point eight left in the period it was Kent Johnston get- ting Big V on the board with Ryan Williamson assisting on the play. The second period was all Big V as they picked up two goals to jump out front by a 3-2 count. Jeremy Gibson scored both goals with assists going to Doug Short, Nick Skerratt and Kent Johnston. The third period saw Sutton mount a comeback as they scored two goals of their own to jump out front 4-3. First it was Jeremy Filby from Steve Vandermeer and J.B. Smockum, then Scott Hawes from John Joe Ganny and Jonathan Ferris. Big V thought they had the game tied up when Jeff Whitfield put the puck in the net but it was called off when the referee said it was kicked in. With their goalie pulled Big V put on lots of pressure but just couldn't get it past the Sutton net minder and wound up on the losing side of a 4-3 final score. Big V's goalie Ryan Puckrin, after a shaky start, settled down to make some great saves especially when his defence disappeared on him and he faced a couple of three on one break- aways. Also having a good game for Big V were Wyatt Park, Luke Newman, Kent Johnston and as always Jeremy Gibson. Juniors defeat Ajax 9-0 The Ivory Forest Juniors solidly defeated the Ajax Jun- iors last Sunday at the Scugog Arena thereby continuing to be undefeated in league play. The Port Perry girls displayed excellent checking skills and very seldom did they allow Ajax to have possession of the ring. Dawn Doucette opened the scoring, unassisted, four min- utes into the game. Amy Par- liament went on a scoring rampage to pop in Port's next three goals. Karen Kett wrapped up the scoring in the first period when she scored Port's fifth goal. Assists were awarded to Megan Marlowe, Karen Kett, Dawn Doucette and Amy Parliament. Megan Marlowe scored Port's sixth goal four minutes into the second period when she picked up a pass from Amy Parliament and flipped the ring into the unprotected upper corner. Win in Cobourg John Lally was the MoJacks' top marksman in Cobourg Dec. 9 with a pair of goals. Jeff Barr, Brian Shelfoon, Jim Vernon and Troy English each scored one in pipes. Future Games The MoJacks are on the road for two games during the week...Wednesday night in Little Britain starting at 8 p.m., and Fri- day night in Uxbridge at 8:30 p.m. Sunday night they're back home at the Scugog Arena for a return match with the Little Bri- tain Merchants, the only team that has beaten the MoJacks this season. This game gets underway at 7:30 p.m. It is billed as the an- nual "Family Christmas Night" with special family admission, draws for lots of prizes and a visit from the jolly old fellow in the red suit. Speedy Recovery In case anyone is wondering what happened to Pierre Leduc, the chap who usually sells chances on the MoJacks' ex- ecutive draw, he is recovering in Port Perry hospital from a fall taken on the steps of the Medical Centre. He expects to be back in action Sunday night. Atom house league Dec. 14 On Saturday, Dec. 14 Scugog Lumber and Lions Club went head to head for first place with - Scugog overpowering Lions 9-1. Mark Sauter played a solid game on defence opened the scor- ing with 42 seconds remaining in the first period on passes from Travis Pickard and Alex Bedell. With one second remaining in the first period Ryan Hawkins tied it up with assists going to Josh Mar- tyn and Jonathon Froats. In the second period Scugog opened the game up a little on goals scored by Steve Martyn, Jonathon Reed and Steve. Assists going to Adam Mahaffey, Jared Painter, Steve, Spencer Bedell and Chris Orr. There could have been plenty more goals except for the fine saves made by both goalies, Tom Keeble and Bob Cowie. Scugog found the holes in the third period. Travis Pickard wristed a high shot over Cowie from Graham Strickert and Ben Stephenson. Ben on a hot streak of late, slid one past Cowie from Strickert. Travis then rifled a bullet on a break-away from Steve and Spencer. Jonathon Reed then took the puck on the center faceoff on a pass from Ben, stickhandled through the whole team and deposited it in the net. Ben then rounded out the scor- ing from the slot, assisting were Reed and Orr. Jared Painter played a strong defensive game along with Tom Keeble for Scugog. For Lions, Bob Cowie stopped a lot of rubber with Greg Ranieri and Jonathon Froats playing hard for Lions. Good game guys.
