Jp Rp ene ORY JETER ORE TT "A Family Tradition for 125 Years" Defeat Uxbridge twice Scugog Overhead Doors Pee Wees win two and tie one in league action On Monday, Dec. 9, the Pee Wee B team met the powerful Sunderland team in Sunderland for their second match-up of the season. The first meeting was in favor of Sunderland as Port was no 'match for this bigger and more talented team but the guys all came to play tonight and show their opponents that they too have developed into a first rate team. Port played even with Paul Shrigley making the big saves when he had to but Sunderland got a few good bounces of the puck and were ahead 3-0 at five minutes into the third period. Port just kept pressing and finally were able to take advantage of a turnover in Sunderland's end for their first goal by Shane Norton with assists going to Cracknell and Halligan. This goal really inspired the guys and they began taking con- trol of the game much to the sur- prise of the host team and parents. With 2:12 remaining in the game, Kevin Gray scored the second goal assisted by Gracie to make things even more interesting. With 55 seconds left, Port pull- ed their goalie and Darryl Moase came up with the tying goal assisted by Norton and Gray to end the game at 3-3. This was truly a great ac- complishment for these guys to come from behind by three goals and earn a tie against a very strong team....a total team effort. The ""Scugog Overhead Doors" played back to back games in Ux- bridge on Friday, Dec. 13 and Sunday, Dec. 15 and were suc- cessful both times, obviously riding high on their fine effort in Sunderland. Uxbridge suffered their first loss 4-2 on goals by Kevin Gray, Darryl Moase, Jason Hopkins and Jamie Strickert. Assists went to Shanley, two and Smith, two. The second game was all Port with Uxbridge losing 7-2. The big men in this game were Kevin Gray scoring four goals and Dar- ryl Moase with two....outstanding games for both. Danny Robinson got the other goal and played a great two-way game all afternoon. Assists went to Strickert, Wootton, Shanley, Hopkins, Laird and Smith. Goalies Johnston and Shrigley played well between the pipes to earn a win each in Uxbridge. If Port can maintain this level of play, they can expect to go far in any future play-off competition.
