26 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, October 22, 1991 Take bus trip to Lindsay Seniors take in the fall colors By Wendy Clark Congratulations to our top scorer in bowling, Mr. Bert Ay- ers. Bert achieved 143 points at the bowling game on Monday, Oct. 7. Fall certainly has arrived. On Tuesday we boarded a bus along with our friends from Cannington Nursing Home and took in a color tour throughout the Lindsay area. The trees were simply beautiful. A lunch time stop was made at the Bon- fire restaurant where we en- Joyed a tasty meal. The very next day we held a baking session. Also a group of residents took part in a "Fun With Art" class. They designed a super-looking mural that will be put on display at the Activity Professionals of Ontario Con- vention. Thursday hosted a very special day as we present- ed our yearly Thanksgiving Turkey dinner along with our family members and friends. Eighty-four people thoroughly enjoyed a turkey with all the trimmings. A big thank you to those volunteers that helped us out and to those residents that worked very hard to prepare a test, 2 p.m., (25), Halloween e Business Cards e FOR ALL YOUR lovely meal. A handful of residents at- tended our own Bible Care Col- lege. Later was a current events session. We found that a reviewal of the Port Perry Star's 125th Anniversary issue was very interesting. Major items that were dis- cussed were ideas for Xmas trips and plans for the Xmas party. Thursday afternoon eve- ryone was extremely busy working on crafts to be sold at our Xmas bazaar. Later on in the evening there was the ever- popular pub night. It was lots of fun to play the "Nursing Homes Down" Horse Racing. Friday, Oct. 18 ended another week and today a good amount of res- idents headed to Oshawa to shop at Five-points mall. Some started on some early Xmas shopping. Birthday wishes are extend- ed to Mrs. Louella Short (Nov. 5), Mr. Jim Grosgene (5) and Mr. Ross Dowson (5). On behalf of the residents and staff we extend our sincer- est sympathy to the family and friends of Mr. Earl Reader. Earl passed away Oct. 14 while in the hospital. ' Upcoming events scheduled are Great Pumpkin Hunt (23), Monthly Birthday Party, 7 p.m. (24), Pumpkin Decorating Con- Shell-out (31). ~ Halloween will soon be here so please be careful when driv- ing on the roads on Oct. 31. Watch for children. Reminder....Christmas Ba- zaar coming up on Dec. 7, 1991. "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Eight-year-old Deanna Dolstra was the youngest competitor in the fiddle contest, while Earl Giles (left) was the oldest at 79 years of age.
