Customers at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) in Port Perry not only banked on their lunch break, but lunched at the bank on Oct. 1. The bank staff held a free "Pride Day" barbecue to show appreciation to their custom- ers, explained Jeff Fell, man- 'ager of the CIBC's Port Perry branch. The barbecue was held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot behind the CIBC ranch. Staff members handed out hotdogs, pop and apples, and shooed away the pesky wasps who insisted on joining the pic- nic. It took less than an hour for 20 dozen hotdogs to be de- voured by hungry customers, he said. "Customers have been say- ing they want this on a month- ly basis," commented one staff member who had popped out for a quick hotdog and pop. " Leftover food from the barbe- cue and donations totalling $169.52 were contributed to the Operation Scugog food bank, said Mr. Fell. based on the Psalm read, fol- lowed with prayer.
