Meeting Held The general meeting of the Nestleton U.C.W. was held in the church, Sept. 12, with president Arlene Malcolm in the chair. She welcomed members and guests, and read a poem entitled, "Or- dinary Folks' from Country Preacher's notebook. Quite a lengthy business period was con- ducted and items included - Nestleton U.C.W. Church Service is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 29 at 11:15 a.m. A good attendance is hoped for. Another item of in- terest - the U.C.W. are ordering church plates in the near future for sale and may be used for gifts. The Prayer Rocks made by Barb Weir sold well. (Arlene turned the meeting over to leader Mabel Cawker). The inspirational devotional was presented by Anita Davis en- titled "Covenant" (The promise of God to bless those who obey Him). The scripture was read by Bernice Mairs and taken from Genesis 9 - 8 - 15 Exodus 19-5 and Mark 14-24. Anita closed with a hymn and prayer. Gwen Malcolm played for the hymn. A short program consisted of in- strumentals. Lawrence Malcolm played his "Keyboard" beautiful- ly - first he gave a rendition of "Memories" and then he played a lively tune we all loved "Give My Regards To Broadway." Ap- plause greeted him at the close. Heather Malcolm (a Grade eight student in music) played Memories from and Presto from Grade eight conservatory. A very i; good performance for Heather with those difficult numbers. Guest speaker Marilyn Wallace was introduced by Mabel Cawker. Marilyn went to India in February with friends Rev. Eric Reble and Jean Reble of Kit- chener who were returning to In- dia after 25 years absence. It pro- ved to be a delightful experience for Marilyn and she would like to go back to India again. She told us a great many interesting 'highlights' about her trip - food reasonable and consisted mainly of vegetables and fruits - rice, bread, etc. the many churches that were shown, and different vehicles of transportation - items to buy were inexpensive, and so forth. One highlight was a baby elephant four days old. Her slides and personal views and interests with a few souvenirs to look at were just great. A most enjoyable armchair trip for all present. Neta Fish thanked Marilyn at the close. Many present had a look at her souvenirs. She was warmly thanked with applause. A tasty buffet lunch was provided by the Afternoon Unit of the U.C.W. So pleased to have a number from Blackstock with us, for this pleasant evening. Blue Ray Chapter Hosts Members Night Blue Ray Chapter completed their Love and Happiness year 1990-91 in fine style with W.M. Elsa Bongard and W.P. Fred Alton welcoming members and guests to the East. Introductions included many dignitaries; two Past Grand Matrons - Sister Betty MacIntosh and Sister Marie Woodward; our new D.D.G.M. Jean Simpson, and several P.D.D. G.M.'s. An Affilia- tion Ceremony for Sister Lynda Clements into Blue Ray; and those receiving Life Memberships were Karel Nottingham presented by Jack, Betsy Staniland and Joyce Taylor by Margaret Cornish. Honorary memberships received were Audrey De Beaupre by Marg Jef- frey, Marie Woodward by Karel Nottingham, Pat Ward by Fred Alton, Betty Dowden by Elsa Bongard, and Betty MacIntosh by Marilyn Jones. The Charter was draped in lov- ing memory of Sister Marjorie Edwards who passed away in May. After Chapter closed a lovely buffet - arranged and convened by Sister Elsa and Brother Fred. Installation Ceremonies will be held on October 10. A practise for the Installing Board will be held Sunday, October 6 at 7 p.m. in the Masonic Hall. Please keep this in mind! Families In The News Saturday guests of Lawrence & Gwen Malcolm, Nestleton, were daughter Bonnie Bilton and children - Sam, Kim, Ben, Rebec- ca and Joe of Delta. On Sunday, Lawrence & Gwen attended the Langmaid - Brooks Reunion at Ebenezer along with grandson Nicholas Malcolm. A good turnout made for a fine reunion. Sam & Mabel Cawker, Scugog Pt. Rd., were delighted to have - friends Stafford & Bessie Cosway, Brooklin, drop in for a visit on Sunday afternoon. After visiting and reminiscing - a cup of tea was enjoyed. The Emerson - Creed Reunion was hosted by Edgar & Anne Emerson of Nestleton, on Sunday, Sept. 8 at the lovely old farm home with approximately 35 pre- sent. Family members were from Toronto, London, Port Hope, Shelburne and other points. A great get-together for all. Nestleton United Church A very fine attendance on Crea- tion II Sunday, Sept. 15, 11:15a.m. with Janice & Claire MacKenzie at the door. Rev. Dale Davis con- ducted the service with Gwen Malcolm at the organ. The children's theme re - following the leader was interesting; knowing who to follow and what to choose. This was the opening of Sunday School with many happy children on hand to enjoy their story. A great beginning! A special musical selection was presented by Bernice & Katie Mairs singing in harmony "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" with Steven Mairs accompanying on his guitar. Warm applause greeted them at the close. A ceremony - Dedication of Leaders, Youth & Children and congregation were read in turn, closing with Prayer. Rev. Dale Davis spoke on "Choosing to Follow' a fine message for the beginning of the fall season of church activities - a season of choices! Let us journey together so that God will mean something to us; based on Scripture Mark and James, read by Les MacKenzie. Offering received by the MacKenzie sisters. Service closed with Benediction and Three Fold Amen. Nestleton Presbyterian Church Services resumed at Nestleton Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dorothy Macdonald, Orillia, in 4 the pulpit. Joyce Taylor was the capable organist. Responsive Psalm 649 and Scripture from Kings and Romans and St. Matthew were read. "Is the dog-eared Bible in the parlour of our homes today?" God speaks to us in every day liv- ing situations and gives us strength providing loving care. On Sunday, Sept. 15, Rev. Mac- donald conducted the service at Nestleton with Joyce Taylor at the organ. Danielle Mc Larnon sang a lovely solo '"This is the day" Selection 639 (Psalm 63) was read followed by the children's story "God in Nature." Rev. The 146th anniversary of Nestleton Presbyterian will be held Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. Rev. Wm. Fairley the speaker, and will preach on Sept. 22 as well! A Real Winner! Leslie MacKenzie of Nestleton, has been enjoying a most suc- cessful season showing her sad- dlebred "Paint Your Wagon' and accumulating a fine collection of red ribbons. The highlight of the year, thus far, occurred at the CNE where this duo won the "Saddleseat Equitation Cham- pionship" and the "Champion Junior Showperson Awards." Qur heartiest congratulations to Leslie! PET OF : Our Pet id but affectionate male wire- haired terrier cross. He is about two years old, is neutered and is tan and white. He was found on the 4th Concession wearing a narrow beige studded collar. Also at the shelter is a white semi-long-haired male cat who is declawed. He has a slight dusting of gray on his head, and was found on Casimir Street in Port Perry.
