"Do you remember the dan- delion tea we had at elevenses instead of milk?" she asks. "It was bloody awful!" The two friends laugh and ing conversation turns to Can- ada. "Lake Scugog reminds me of Lake Windermere in the Lake District," says Mrs. Ashdown. "It's so peaceful and calm and restful." The Wilkinsons have taken her on several boat rides, and hope to accompany her to To- ronto on Thursday night to see one of their sons play in a band. She's been shopping in Port Perry and Lindsay several Mrs. Wilkinson moved to Caesarea six years ago with her husband Ron, who also is from England. His sister, who he hadn't seen in 46 years, also visited this summer. The two friends love to trade stories about their school days and old friends and places. Mrs. Ashdown teases Mrs. Wilkinson about the time the elastic went in her drawers and they fell down around her knees. "Do you remember the time the cat had kittens in the cup- board?" asks Mrs. Wilkinson. The Port Perry Star for the past times, and a neighbor has of- fered to drive her to Cullen 125 years Gardens. "The Tradition Continues" Before she returns to Eng- land, the friends hope to drive out to Fenelon Falls and the Muskoka district to see the fall leaves. "I have to see the leaves change color before I leave," says Mrs. Ashdown. The Wilkinson's neighbors have been especially friendly to her, she says. "Every evening we are invit- ed out, and we have sing- alongs around the piano," she says. "Their friends all have musical instruments, and they always ask me to entertain them. I tell you, it's good for my ego!" Mrs. Ashdown is a busy pia- nist in England, accompanying two operatic societies and re- hearsing frequently. "You only get out of life what you put into it," she says, add- ing that she plans to save mon- ey so she can come to visit again. "I wish she would stay here," says Mrs. Wilkinson. Man identified in fiery crash The victim of a single vehicle accident in Blackstock on Sept. 6, has been identified as a Port Perryman. . According to Durham Re- gional Police, Cyril Fancy, 35, of Simcoe Street in Port Perry was killed when his vehicle travelling on Mount Joy Road, two miles east of Regional Road 57, travelled into the north ditch and burst into flames.
