Senior ladies fastball got a new start with a team picked from the Durham Ladies Slo-pitch League, and put their foot in the door for next year, for a Senior Pee Wee Bantam girls final Sept. 4 Pee Wee Bantam girls softball action will resume on Tuesday, September 3 at the south diamond at 6:30 p.m. Valu-Mart girls and P.P.M.S. "Red" are both trying to earn the playoff spot against the Country Siding team from Greenbank. This semi final game between Valu-Mart and '"'Red" was in the middle of the first inning on Aug. 18 when the rain came. Because the first inning was incomplete the game will start from the beginning when they meet on Sept. 3. The winner of this game will return Wednesday, Sept. 4, 6:30 p.m. at the north diamond and play for the championship against Country Siding. Good Luck to all. Skate with Ladies team. Losing the games, but both were close - Aurora winning 2-1 en Friday night in a closely played game. Then on Saturday morning they played another close game, 2-2 till the roof caved in and Whitby had seven runs in, but Port Perry came back and put three on the board before time ran out, with the final out 9-5 Whitby. The only misfortune on the weekend was Terri Ness coming away with a cracked jaw bone. But Terri played some great ball before the mishap. I was very impressed with play of these ladies, and if anything, next year could be something else - we are looking forward to it. Joy Miller came out of the weekend with hits; Jan Towns with two hits, as did Janet Joncas, Jackie Dempster. Singles were hit by Ann Gordon, Kim Stewart, and Lori Winter. Jackie Demp- ster had the misfortune of picking up both loses, but all in all these ladies were a credit to their Corner Local ladies fastball team show determination in Uxbridge AE 3 league. 3 I've been in softball for onger than I want to know, cesching, umpiring, and playing it ep. But I've never been more pleased with the effort that these ladies displayed this past weekend. The spirit was something else; the determination was something else; the willingness to give, and the desire was over - wel] - you name-it, they did it, in the sport- manship of these ladies was something to see, and a pleasure to work with. Also a big thanks to the husbands who look after the kids. A special thanks to. Robert Grieve, who sponsored this team for the weekend, and a special thanks for all out effort, 'and we come up short", to Janet Joncas, Jackie Dempster, Cindy Crosbie, Carol Jackson, Joy Miller, Laura Richardson, Joyce Parkinson, Lori Winter, Tammy Surman, Kim Stewart, Ann Gordon, and Jan Towns and last but least (How's your jaw?) Terri Ness. "Thanks Girls".
