Blood donor clinic on September 10 The Canadian Red Cross So- ciety is out for blood again, and on Sept. 10 it wants yours. That's when the Masons will be sponsoring their first blood donor clinic in Port Perry, to be held at the Masonic Hall from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. "We're really looking for- ward to a grand turn-out," says Don Bower, the chairman of the Blood Donor Committee. The committee has been busy organizing and promoting the clinic. Volunteers have been recruited to help out and refreshments will be provided. The committee members have challenged the township's elected officials to "come out and show their support to the community," says Mr. Bower. Depending on the success of the clinic, they hope to sponsor four clinics a year. The Masonic order has been strong on blood donations for years, he explains. "We know the importance of giving blood. The Red Cross is always in dire need." He hopes that local residents won't say theyll give blood "next time", because "you nev- er know when that pint of blood will be going to one of your loved ones."
