Clifford William (David) Maltby, an inmate at Wark- worth Institution, was serving time for a 1986 hostage taking in Ottawa. On April 17 of this year, he failed to return to prison from anunescorted day pass. . A 1986 Red Honda Prelude, owned by Mr. Maltby's wife, was found in a swampy area in Scugog Township on Kori] 18. He spent two days in a wood- ed area of Scugog Township. On the Friday, Mr. Maltby walked into Port Perry, stopping at many local venues, including the Port Perry Star. He was eventually picked up by local police at 2 a.m. Satur- day, April 20. Mr. Maltby has been in Whit- by Jail since the arrest. Another homicide inregion A 46-year old Oshawa man has been charged with murder after a woman was stabbed to death Sunday. Police say Zenovia Mysyk died of a stab wound to the chest, and the victim's husband was also wounded and remains under police guard at Oshawa General Hospital where his con- dition is reported as serious. The stabbing took place at the victim's home at 33 Whiting Streetin Oshawa. Stepan Mysyk of the same address has been charged with first degree murder. He has been remanded in custody.
