Fairley - Minister MARCH 24 11:00 a.m. Morning Worhsip All welcome On Wednesday, Feb. 20 the Durham Regional Police Volleyball Team challenged our volleyball teams to a match. A good time was had by all. Our boys teams came close to winning - the girls were victorious and the teachers with the help of some ex- cellent volleyball players lost by only 2 points. Next year team! On Feb. 18 William Orlowski - Tap Dancin' Sam - performed at Prince Albert. The students were very impressed with his talents. Prince Albert School news Prince Albert was fortunate to have snowshoes for a week. The students had a lot of fun but we could have used a little more SNOW. On Feb. 19-20 our grade 1 / 2 choir, our grade 3 / 4 choir and our Rhythm Band went to the Sunderland Music Festival. They all came home with first prize. Way to go! We are very proud of all our students and staff and their performances on this achievement. The Proverbs in concert at Burns Church April 21 Mr. and Mrs. Rees Williams, Bernice Gardner and Donna Bon- nell enjoyed a trip to Niagara Falls recently. Mrs. Rees Williams hosted a family gathering at the Ashburn Community Centre on Sunday, March 10 to celebrate the retire- ment of her husband Rees, and several family March birthdays. Those present were Steven and Shawn Gardner, Mr. and Mrs. Bonnell and boys of Orangeville, Mr. and Mrs. David Manns and family, Oshawa, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Manns, West Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Frank McKim and Donna Bonnell of Oshawa, as well as Bill and Bernice Gardner and Jean. Theo and Joan Knight accom- panied by Muriel Lynde attended a birthday party for Walter Bryant at his home in Omemee on Saturday afternoon. Jane Parkin and her son Quinn of Sterling visited with Muriel Fisher last Tuesday. Eileen Rogers of Bowmanville visited with Doug and Florence Ashton on Sunday afternoon. Doug and Florence Ashton en- joyed a visit with Cecil and Jean - Vicars of Fergus last Saturday. Results of the last euchre game at the Community Centre - Ladies first went to Erma Wood, second prize to Muriel Whitbread. Mens first to Lorraine Hill, second to Malcolm Allbright. Lone hands to Don Linton. Lucky door prize win- ner Art Budd. 50/50 draw won by Grant Bright. Everyone is invited to attend the next euchre on Thursday, March 21. Bring a friend and enjoy a good evening. The Ladies Bible Class met at the home of Sheila Parrott last Wednesday afternoon. The meeting opened by singing '""There is Sunshine in my soul." Psalm 34 was read by Joan Knight. The Meditation by the president was titled "At all Times," based on the Psalm read. Joan led in prayer. The hymn "More About Jesus" was sung. Florence Ashton was in charge of the study and shared the story of Corrie ten Boom. This remarkable woman spent the first fifty years of her life living with her father and sister above their watch shop in Haarlem, Holland. When World War II broke out, this devoutly Christian family began providing 'hiding places' for persecuted Jews. Since her release from concentration camps as a result of illegal ac- tivities, she has travelled all over the world captivating audiences with her inspiring story. We all enjoyed a nice chat over our tea cups. Next Sunday, a congregational meeting will be held following church. Pot luck dinner at church Mar. 23 John and Diana Brough, Chuck and Beth Willes, Bob and Linda hunter of Greenbank spent a week holidaying in Dominican Republic. Thursday evening the weekly euchre was held with seven tables. Winners Elsie Forbes, Merle St. John, Laurretta Collins, Owen Gray, Art Gibson, George Harper. Lucky draws, Richard Manns, Ilean Pugh, Georgena McLaughlin. On Wednesday evening 13 ladies atterided the UCW at the home of Ilean Pugh. Ilean welcomed everyone and opened with 2 poems, March Winds and Easter and Spring. Devotion was led by Betty Deeth with the Easter theme in mind. During the business period it was reported the first part of the kitchen renovations has been completed. The ladies will now be looking for ways of fund raising to finish off the rest before September. The Anniversary Banners are coming along well. Quilting at Sarah Elliott's Tues. evening and Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Betty Deeth has the se- cond one on Wednesday - could be a good time to quilt. On Saturday evening March 23, Rev. Kwang-il Lee will be at the Prince Albert United Church. A pot luck supper at 6:00 p.m. followed by a film and talk from Rev. Lee. This is open to anyone who would like to attend, just bring some food and come along. Sandy Moore underwent surgery in Oshawa hospital last week and was in intensive care. Your friends hope you soon will be feeling much improved. Hope everyone had a good March break and ready to get back to work and school.
