In January, my wife Em decided that self- improvement was called for to get her through these dark days of winter, and so she has been taking a French course at the local high school. There's a great deal of parlayvooing here now, but Em often finds herself without a partner to practice with. And so our cat Guildwood has become a willing victim - anything for a meal - and re- ceives his dinner in French from Em, who reads the labels to him and calls him "Mon- sieur Guildwood."
