What is the matter with you peo- ple, do you not use the eyes that God gave you? On Friday after- noon I was driving along Queen Street east behind a blue and white van, GMC. You were driving along, ob- viously completely oblivious to what was going on around you. All of a sudden, you decided to park in a parallel parking spot in front of the Beckers store. Do you use your turn signal to indicate your intentions? The answer - NO! You simply applied your brakes to stop and then started reversing into the spot. The problem was that I was right behind you - did you not see me? From what I remember when I was learning how to drive we were told to signal and to check the mirror, perhaps you need to be retested - you likely wouldn't pass. Fortunately for me, there was no one behind me as I had to quickly reverse to get out of your way. To top it off, when I did get around you after you parked your vehicle, I honked the horn to let you know that I was there, in which you responded with a Dir- ty Look. You were wrong, not me! Perhaps you had better hone up on the proper rules of the road. Then as if that was not enough for one day, after having com- pleted my errands in town, I pro- ceeded back up Queen Street west, this time. Again I was in- nocently driving my car, obeying the rules of the road, when upon * Leisure Products * BBQ Aprons (funny) * Spa and Beach Sandals * Remote Control Toys * Drinking Water Filters ANNUAL * Flash Lights * Citronella Insect Repeller * Stereo Equipment * Spa Chemicals 0 UT )) 0 0 R B A R B 0 | * Computer Games * Back Yard Torch Lights "2" * Computer Software * Acrylic Glassware Y AR 1) S ALE * Intercom Systems * Cedar Lawn furniture & * Telephones & Equipment * Pool Toys and Games * Antenna Equipment * Pool Chemicals * C.B. I em- mediately had to apply my brakes and pray I didn't slide as it was snowing and there was another car in the opposite direction. What were you doing, lady, daydreaming? It's your type that gives all of us women drivers bad reputations. Perhaps you need glasses. It's too bad that our policemen don't have more time to give you people tickets for poor and careless driving! Yours truly, Cindy Jackson Prince Albert, Ont. Pesticides common in future From Page 8 I also teach the Grower Pesticide Safety Course to area farmers for the Ministries of En- vironment and Agriculture and Food. We have trained 30,000 On- tario farmers on the hazards of pesticides, as well as our water and soil. Where is the Pesticide Industry going? I feel that pesticides such as BT (Bacillus thuringiensis) will be common in the future. It is extremely safe to humans and is actually an insect bacterium. It has been used for Gypsy Moth control. Farmers are already choosing insecticides that are less toxic to beneficial insects. Perhaps farmers in the 60s and 70s relied too much on the "chemical" approach to farming, but they are looking at new techniques and many have adopted these at some personal expense. I don't feel that our food distribution system allows for the transportation and sale of insect and disease infested produce. It is a long way from California to Port Perry!
