The first is a collection of Royal Family memorabilia owned by Helen Redman of Scugog Island. Mrs. Redman has been col- lecting royal family items for most of her life, but has sub- stantially increased her collec- tionin the past ten years. Some of the items in her col- lection belonged to her mother, with the remainder either be- ing bought by herself, or were gifts from family and friends. Mrs. Redman's has approxi- mately 75 pieces in her collec- tion including plates, cups, spoons, and tins. Also in the collection is a pho- tograph of the carriage that drove Prince Charles, and Lady Dianna after their wedding. Mrs. Redman's son Dave was in Helen Redman, of Scugog Island collects Royal Family memorabilia. Her collection of over 75 pieces Is currently on display at Scugog Shores Museum. Mrs. Redman's mother-in- law wrote a poem and sent it to the Palace and Helen has placed the reply in her collec- tion. The second display at the museum is a collection of radi- os, which are owned by John Charlton of Oshawa. Mr. Charlton's exhibit in- cludes 20 radios ranging from a a 1923 "Workrite" 5 tube bat- tery-powered neutrodyne a.m. table radio, and a 1923 "Split- dorf' Horn loudspeaker, to a 1960 "Zenith" transitor radio. Mr. Charlton has been col- lecting radios for 15-20 years, and has been displaying them for four years. He was an electronics teach- er at high school when people began giving him old radios to repair and keep for himself. All of the radios on display are in working order. His exhibit has also been on display at Bowmanville, Oshawa, and Clark Township ~ Museums. In August of 1980, Mr. Charl- fon was interviewed on CBC ra- io. -- He spoke in his interview about Reginald Aubrey Fessen- den who had his dream come true on December 23, 1900 when he was able to carry a message across a long distance without wires; to have a mes- sage carried out on radio wave. Scugog Shores Museum is open all year round for tours. Currently the Museum is open for tours Monday through Friday from 1p.m. until 5.p.m. The Museum is closed week- Snje until the May long week- end.
