On Wednesday, December 19, 1990, seventeen ladies of the mor- ning unit met at the home of Peggy Larmer for our annual Christmas meeting and pot luck lunch. Unit Leader Peggy Larmer opened the meeting with some thoughts on Christmas and the wish that the spirit and love of Christmas would last all year. The minutes of the November meeting were read and adopted. Treasurer Ruby Van Camp reported that $117.00, the envelope givings for November, had been handed to the general treasurer. Peggy asked that someone from the unit be ready to volunteer at the January meeting to serve on the committee for the men's dinner on January 30. The - chart for volunteers to be hostess [The \_ PORT Steaks and Burgers -\ Sit Down Service and Take-out 7A at WATER STREET PORT PERRY 985-4707 and provide Worship and pro- gramme for our 1991 meetings was quickly and happily filled out. Connie Swain had charge of the worship entitled: Christmas Journey. She told the story of the three wise men who had followed the star for many days to Jerusalem to worship the new King. Yet the people in Jerusalem did not know about the birth - King Herod did not know. However the three wise men persevered and found the baby Jesus. The question was asked: Do we follow the star when we enter our place of worship? What do we look for? Do we come to find fault or do we come to find fellowship. If we come to worship, He will be there to welcome us. There is always a star for our journey if we look for it. Jessie Gunter had charge of the programme which was about Christmas tradition oe fami- ly and her favourite Christmas books. She read some excerpts from her books: What is Christmas? It is feeling; it is sound; it is taste; it is sigh and most of all it is belief. And as an appropriate follow up to Connie's worship: If it happened here as it happened there If it happened now as it happened then Who would have seen the miracle? Who would have brought a gift? Who would have taken them in? . Peggy adjourned tthe meeting and we all followed the tantaliz- ing aroma of casseroles, salads, and scrumptious desserts to the dining room where we enjoyed samples from the kitchens of the good cooks in the morning unit.
