The Judo Club, is under the direction of instructor Duncan Vignale, who is a 6th Degree Blackbelt. Mr. Vignale, has been study- ing Judo for over 30 years, and has compiled an impressive list of credits. He is the former head coach for the Province of Ontario, and has taken teams to compete in the United States, and Eng- land. He is currently vice presi- dent of Judo Canada. He is also a member of the Ontario Grading Board, which is the organization responsible for promoting members to black belt. The Grading Board is made up of the ten highest ranking blackbelts in the province. Fight for first place continues The first game of the day was a complete one sided affair in which Van & Truck World skated to an easy 8-2 victory ever Compton. Capitalizing for Van & Truck World were Brian Samis 4 goals, 1 assist, Wayne Fox 1 goal, 3 assists, Paul Van Camp 1 goal, 1 assist, Scott Davis and Randy Prosser 1 goal apiece. Other assists went to Richie Lefort 4, Dick Martin 2, Glen McCoy, Dale Bronson and Dennis Sims each with one. For Compton it was Larry Pilkey from Tim Ashbridge, and Bob Tarbotton from Todd Wilbur and Larry Page. Game two was another high scoring one as Crandell's rallied to defeat Norton's 6-3. Scoring for Crandell's were Ivan Geer with a natural hat trick, Rick Campbell 1 goal, 1 assist, Ken Jeffrey 1 goal, 1 assists and Henry Forderer 1 goal. Adding assists were George Gladish 3, Doug Bronson 3, Steve Groves, Brian Burns and Ray Zaparaniuk each with singles. Counting for Norton's were Rob Kroonenburg 1 goal, 2 assists, Dave Dickson 1 goal, 2 assist, Tony Oxley 1 goal, Doug Brown and Dave Milton with one assist each. Game three was the best of the day as Fitzgerald's had to work extra hard to barely edge out Sportsland 4-2 with the help of an empty net goal. Tallying for Fitzgerald's were Bill Bridge 1 goal, 1 assist, Gary Lance, Carl Fitzgerald and Kevin Reid 1 goal each. Wayne Norton, Ken Smart, Al Bonner, Bart Wager and Dan Carty all had 1 assist each. The lone marker for Sportland was Mark Jobb with both goals and Rick Olaisen had 2 assists. The fourth game was another high scoring event in which Anderson's and J&D Carpentry exchanged 4 goal stints with Anderson's coming out on top 8-4. The Port Perry Club beganin 1986 with 22 members and fluc- tuates around the same num- ber. Locally the club practises for one we | a half hours every Tuesday and Thursday eve- ning. Members are currently aged 7-14, but members can be as Joung as six tojoin. urrently the highest belt in the Port Perry organization is a green belt, which four members have. The order of belts from low- est to highest is white, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown, black. A competitor must be 16 toearn ablackbelt. Tweens lose fo Barrie On Saturday afternoon the Allens Siding Products Tween travelled in slushy conditions to the snowbelt of Ontario - Barrie. The Barrie Tweens were hot for a win and that's exactly what they did. The score ended Barrie 6, Port Perry 2. Brandy Harris scored our goals, the first one assisted by Amy Parliament and Vicki Stain- ton. Amy assisted solo on the se- cond goal. The teams next game is this Tuesday evening, in Whitby. Game time is 7:15 p.m.. See you on the ice - and a Merry Christmas to all! Floor Hockey In the final floor hockey game of this year, played at the R.H. Cornish gym on December 10, the Golden Eagles soared past the Red Raiders by a 6 to 3 count. Once again, this was a well played game that was very close for two periods. The Golden Eagles scored the only goal of the first period. Matt Philip was the marksman for the Eagles. In the second period, the Red Raiders outscored the Eagles by a 3 to 2 score. Stuart Bruce scored twice while Chad Mitchell notched one goal to lead the Raiders this period. Dennis Goodman and Rick Olaisen scored for the Eagles and the game was tied 3-3 after two periods. The Golden Eagles scored three unanswered goals in the third period to earn a well deserved 6-3 victory. Matt Philip scored two goals this period to get his hat trick. Rick Olaisen fired the other goal. The three stars of the game were Matt Philip, Rick Olaisen and Stuart Bruce.
