22 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, December 18. 1990 Christmas Eve services at hospital, churches Patients at the Community Memorial Hospital will enjoy a special Christmas Eve service. On Dec. 24 at 4 p.m., three lo- cal ministers will load the pa- tients and staff in a half hour service. Carol singing will highlight the celebration, Rev. Dale Da- vis of the Blackstock-Nestleton United Churches told the Star. Rev. Davis, along with Rev. David Shepherd of the Green- bank-Pinedale-Seagrave Unit- ed Churches and Rev. Bart Van Eyk of the Hope Christian Re- form Church, will lead the ser- vice. The service will be held in front of the nurses station and is the first Christmas Eve ser- vice held at the hospital by the ministerial association. As well as the service held at the hospital, many local churches are holding Christ- mas Eve services on Dec. 24. Here is a list of services planned at local churches: The Port Perry and Prince Al- bert United Church congrega- tions will join together for a ser- vice at the Port Perry United Church, starting at 7 p.m. Rev. Robert LePage will give a short message. The choir, un- der the musical direction of Glen Taylor, will sing a few se- lections. Everyone will sing fa- vorite Christmas Carols togeth- er. The Port Perry United Church is located at the corner of Lilla and Queen Streets in Port Perry. 3% 3% xk The Greenbank Pastoral Charge, which includes Green- bank, Seagrave and Pinedale United Churches, will meet at Greenbank United Church for aservice at 7:30 p.m. Rev. David Shepherd said the program will consist mainly of a contata by the choir enti- tled "I Love To Tell The Story." A couple of Christmas Carols will also be sung. The Greenbank United Church is located at the four corners in Greenbank on High- way 12. LER Anglican minister, Rev. Charles Bull, said that many special services have been planned for St. John's Anglican Church in Blackstock and the Church of the Ascension in Port Perry. The charge's first service is at 5 p.m. at the Church of the As- cension. It is a family-oriented Com- munion service with special emphasis on Christmas stories for the children. At 9 p.m., worshippers will meet at St. John's Church in Blackstock for a Communion service. A message, choir selec- tions and congregational carol singing will also be on the agen- a. At 11 p.m. a Midnight Mass, with communion, singing and a message, will be held at the Church of the Ascension in Port Perry. Along with it's Christmas Eve services, Church of the As- cension will have a service on Christmas Day at 10 a.m. On Sunday, Dec. 30 Rev. Bull will give the Traditional Ser- vice of Lessons and Carols at St. John's. The Church of the Ascension is located on North Street in Port Perry and St. John's Angli- can Church is located on Church Street in Blackstock. * St. Bernadette's Catholic Parish is also holding several Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. On Dec. 24, eucharists will be held at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. at Millbrook Correctional Centre. At 7 p.m. a children's eucharist and mass will be held. According to Ann Wannink- hof, this years Operation Scu- gog Christmas Food Drive has en very successful. "We have had much more than in other years. We will be able to supply everyone with a complete Christmas meal, plus extra groceries, and gifts for the children," she added. Kitchens has also been very generous by supplying Christ- mas Cakes for the drive. This was the fourth year that local Real Estate offices have been using their offices as a de- pot for Operation Scugog. According to Brenda Cas- teels, of Re/Max Realty they have seen an increase in items dropped off to them this year. These donations have included many cash donations, and a used artificial Christmas tree. The Food Drive runs until this Friday, and donations of food, unwrapped toys, or cash donations will be excepted up until Friday. There will be someone at the Kinsmen Hall on Thursday, and Friday morning of this week to accept donations. Donations can also dropped off at local Real Estate offices, or you can call Ann Wanninkhof at 985-7271 to ar- range to have your donations picked up.
