May we take time at this busy season to reflect on the Magic of the season, and to focus on the true meaning of Christmas. Last Sunday morning was the third Sunday of Advent. The Bat- ten family lit the third candle - the candle of joy. We also presented White Gifts to those who are less fortunate than we are. Rev. Calvin Stones sermon was titled "Mary's Christmas Carol."' The choir sang a lovely anthem. On Wednesday evening of this week is the annual Community Christmas Concert at Burns Church Hall. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the concert will start at 6:30 p.m. sharp. Good old Santa will be on hand at 7:30 to greet all the boys and girls. Everyone is welcome to the Christmas Eve Candlelighting Service at Burns Church at 8 p.m. We are pleased to hear that Muriel Fisher is making favourable progress at Oshawa General Hospital. We trust that she will continue to improve day by day. Ruby Bryant is still convalesc- ing at Oshawa General following a fall that she had since her hip surgery. Results of the euchre party at the Community Centre last Thursday night is as follows - 13 tables. Lone hands to Nelson Cole. Mens first prize to Evelyn Dennis, second prize to Pete Gall. Werner & Alice Mees decided some time ago to take a year off from their busy teaching careers and enjoy some travelling and that is exactly what they have been doing. Earlier in the fall, they toured the New England States just when it was at it's peak of beauty with the coloured leaves. They have returned home from a two week vacation to the Bahamas just in time to enjoy the Christmas season with family and friends. While they were away their nephew Cliff and wife Gin Mees were here in Utica looking after things. On Friday Doug & Judy attended the Bennet Mechanical employees dinner and dance in Hamilton. On Saturday the family were guests with next door neighbours Hillis and Carol for dinner and on Sun- day they were in Downsview for dinner with Marlene & Charlie Nocilla and boys.
