(' THE Church to help families a 2 aa BY Wn EARL READER EE Last Wednesday, giving us a lovely winter evening, 22 members of the "Head" U.C.W met at Hank's Pastries for a delicious, annual Christmas din- ner. Of course a few members were missed due to other obliga- tions. We remembered former members - Reta Rodman, Alva Thompson and Marion Hughes who found it necessary to move away to Oshawa, Richmond Hill and Peterborough. We unders- tand Marion Hughes recently had a hip surgery. Although she suf- fers the usual after effects, she is cheerful as always. Along with the dinner and social time, members had a good many laughs in the program especially prepared by a few talented members. Of course all received another Christmas memento skillfully made by the talented Clara Dowson who sacrifices many hours from summer on, to produce these items. By now we all have a varied collection. Since Jan and Jim Gerrow now have their fourth child in kindergarten, Jan has returned to her loved profession of teaching grades 9, 10 and 11 in Scar- borough. With an early departure this necessitates some family planning. Nelson Reader and Allan Red- man distant relatives and former school friends have been enjoying a trip to the Las Vegas area. Thanks to the person who made a special delivery of "The Bridge," the Scugog Pastoral Charge, 5th edition of the Church paper, which contains a special message from the new minister, Elaine Barber, a very vivacious lady from Bowmanville. If you didn't get yours, enquire about it. It contains all the special church events for December and Christmas. Next Sunday, Dec. 16 will be a Joint Intergenerational Service with the Sunday School Christmas presentation. We are also re- quested to bring in gifts of food for our 3 families as assigned by Operation Scugog, gifts and food unwrapped, ingredients of food for a Christmas dinner.
