The cards and hand-made gifts are not the only things the forces will receive around Christmas, thanks to the efforts ofthe Greenbank girls. They are asking the public to donate small gifts such as playing cards, blank tapes, writing paper, soap, deodorant, tooth-paste, and packages of powdered drink crystals like orange juice and iced tea. Boxes for these gifts have been set up in the Greenbank Store and the Chicken Coop in Greenbank, and the boxes will remain there until December 7. Guide leader Dot Hooker said the idea for the Christmas in Cannington. And it was later adopted by all Guide groups in the Sunder- land District, which includes Greenbank. The girls, who have never written letters or cards before to armed forces overseas, like the idea very much. It is their way of wishing the forces Merry Christmas, and letting them know that peo- ple back home in Canada are thinking about them on this dangerous mission. And they are also telling them they hope war does not break out and they can soon re- turn from the Persian Gulf.
