Sunday School Christmas party on Dec. 16 Durham Area 1 teachers are much happier now. Last Thurs- day the UCW catered to their Fall Dinner Meeting. I hear that the meal was excellent. Once again Prince Albert food has warmed the hearts of strangers. We were very pleased to hear that Max Daigle is leaving his mark on the world. Max came in second for Home Coming King at Western University. Congratula- tions Max. We all knew you were almost as charming as your dad. Prince Albert's volleyball teams looked stunning at a recent volleyball tournament held at S.A.Cawker. We all know that clothes don't make the person but it sure helps team spirit. Prince Albert played very well. Many thanks to Mrs. Roth and Mrs. Lin- ton for all of their hard work. I hear that basketball has started now. What a busy school. Our household was saddened last week when one of John's favourite uncles passed away. He hasn't enjoyed good health for several years now. I'll miss hear- ing him call me his 'favourite teacher'. He always knew just what to say to make us smile. Thursday night euchre winners were - Ladies: Doris Hill, Myrtle Gimblett, and Vi Larking; Mens: Carl Gimblett, Bert Larking and James Emerton. The lucky draw winners were Alma Manns, Pearl Gostisk and Doris Redman. All ladies of the Prince Albert United Church are invited to Lin- da McMillans on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. sharp. It's the UCW Christmas Pot Luck sup- per and program. We all wish Florence Smith bet- ter health. Florence is in the hospital. Other people in town who are under the weather are Linda McMillan and Lloyd Pereman. On Sunday, December 2nd some friends and family of Eva Hunter gathered to say thank-you to her on her retirement as church organist. Eva has played the music for approximately 38 years. Some of that time was at Kedron United Church. Terry Hodgson was Master of Ceremony for the occasion. GRADUATE Cynthia Lec Welles graduated Junc 6, 1930 from Guelph University with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Science. Her Academic curriculum centred upon the arcas of Psychology and Busincss. Cindy has accepted the position of Marketing Sales Co-ordinator at Hill Refrigeration Canada, Head Office, Barrie, Ontario. Some humourous stories were told about Eva delivering mail; a poem was read by Grace Beacock on getting old. Everyone enjoyed the Hunter's version of Jungle Bells. Prince Albert would like to welcome Kari and Todd Healey to our neighbourhood. Please remember that next Sunday is White Gift Sunday. The home of Marlene and Michael Russell has been a busier than usual one in recent weeks. The Bahai community and some friends joined in a joyous celebra- tion of the Birthday of Baha'u'llah (Prophet founder of the Baha'i Faith). The children attending ranged in age from 9 weeks to 12 years and outnumbered the adults 23 to 17. All ages enjoyed the music and stories of Nancy Minden from Goodwood. Dress- ing up from Mr. Dressup's tickle trunk was a big hit as was the fish pond. Families blew in with the first snow from Scugog Island, Uxbridge and as far away as Beaverton. The Russells barely had time to clean the cake crumbs out of the carpet before they were opening their doors once again to welcome several Scugog residents to a wrap-up breakfast for 'Recycling Week'. Janet Banting attended and started a lively discussion about environmental concerns. The Bahai community thanks Janet for helping to enlighten us further and for all her efforts to help save the planet.
