Petite girls travelled down the road to take on Manvers for their first meeting of the year. For the first four minutes the action was end to end with both teams having some ex- cellent chances only to be turned away empty handed by both the Port Perry and Manvers goalies. Slowly but surely the Port I.G.A. girls took control of the game, moving the ring quickly in- to the Manvers zone. Port ham- mered the Manvers goalie with shot after shot only to come away empty handed. The first period ended in a scoreless tie. In the second half of this ex- citing game, Port didn't let up one little bit, keeping the "pressure"' on the Manvers Squad and taking shot after shot at their goalie. Time after time the Manvers goalie picked Port Perry's pockets by stopping everything Port threw at her. At 10:19, Jen- ny Lane scored Port's first goal by swooping in on goal and lifting the ring high in the top corner of the net unassisted. At 7:06 Port lit up the scoreboard again on a nice goal by Amanda Wakeford assisted by Geni Taylor. At the 2:02 mark of the second Jennifer Elliot scored assisted by Michele Branton to give Port a 3-0 lead. With just 2 seconds left in the game, Manvers scored making the final score 3-1 for Port Perry. Playing in goal for Port was Kristie Aldridge again being a pillar of strength. An Honorable Mention for good hustle goes to Michele Branton. because for the second straight game has given her best effort slowly coming into her own. Scor- ing for Manvers was Wendy Clark scoring her first Ringette goal ever. The games Three Stars are 1. Manvers goalie Sherri Monk, 2. Natasha Burgess, 3. Diane Vanderligt both from Port Perry. Next Port Perry 1.G.A. Petite game is in Omemee, November 14 at 5:30. Come out and enjoy. XL ringette The Port Perry XL Gas Bar Novice Ringette team played its 2nd game of the season at Manvers Arena against En- nismore on Saturday evening. Although the final score was 6-1 in favour of Ennismore, the entire Port Perry team played a good game. Goalie Alicia Burgess made some good saves between the pipes. Our four defense players Alaina Davis, Miranda Burgess, Katherine Cooke and Leanne Holt were all digging hard to keep the ring out of their area. Our only goal of the game was Melissa Hooker at 6:13 of the 1st period and the assist went to blue stick Sara Vershuuren. The continued efforts from white stick Jennifer Donnelly and the blue sticks Leanne Layzell, Nicole Virtue and Leanne Davison were also hard working. The girls travel to Stayror on Saturday, November 17, for 2 more exciting games. Keep work- ing girls and good luck.
