We are grateful for many things: for the way in which God takes the pain out of old scars; for the healing pro- cesses which He sets to work in our hearts; for inspiration, hope and faith that enables us to think of, and to work for, the day when war shall be no more! Blue Ray Chapter November Meeting Blue Ray Chapter, No. 238, OES, opened in regular from with W.M. Elsa Bongard presiding, assisted by W.P. Fred Alton. The Chapter was led in Prayer by Chaplain Peter Miles and the Flag was escorted to the East by Marshal Richard Windsor. Con- ductress Wendy Puterbough had the honour of introducing the Grand Benevolent Committee member Jean Hughes, and D.D.G.M. Margaret Jeffrey, also, P.D.D.G.M. Bessie Cosway and many Past Matrons & Past Patrons from Toronto, Whitby, Oshawa, Orangeville, Cookstown and Bowmanville. Business was discussed pertaining to catering and Benevolent work. Under good of the Order & Welfare, Jean Hughes presented an informative talk on Benevolent in Grand Chapter and what the subordinate Chapters can do for those less fortunate. Members were saddened to learn of the passing of Sam Cawker's brother Gord who pass- ed away in Lindsay Hospital on Wednesday, November 7. Chapter closed with D.D.G.M. Margaret Jeffrey giving the farewell! Members and guests retired to the lower hall for a buf- fet lunch of assorted loaves & cheese, tea and coffee, convened by Judy Davidson & Shirley Ash! Nestleton Presbyterian Church On Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Mr. Stanley McNeely - a decorated veteran, welcomed at the door. Service was conducted by Rev. Wm. Fairley, with Joyce do hereby proclaim the week Recycling Week. Taylor the organist. The Sunday School children were given a lesson about the way our lives touch each other far and near. Psalm 50 was read responsively and Scripture readings were from Amos 5 and Matthew 25. The sermon on Remembrance Day - we remember all those who sacrificed their lives so that the world would have peace and security. God is still in control and we live in the light of God's eter- nal love! Next Sunday, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Wm. Fairley in charge. Family Affairs Neta Fish, Cadmus, was a guest overnight with her sister-in-law Heather Munro of Sonya, last Sat. night; and they enjoyed dinner with Heather's son and wife Ruth, on Sunday. Neta also had a visit with Louella Short on her 85th bir- thday. The festivities were held at her son Ken Short's home at Sonya. Our best wishes! Bill Cairns of Montreal, Jack and Pat Sanders of Bobcaygeon, were Sunday luncheon guests with the Sam Cawkers of Scugog Pt. Rd. A happy hour or so of visiting and reminiscing was a highlight! Sam & Bill worked together during the Second World War in the Pedlar Plant in Oshawa; and it was so good to see him again after a 30 year period! A very happy birthday is wish- ed for a special neighbour - Chris Davis today - November 12. Hope her day was a very, very happy one. A great neighbour to be sure! Nestleton United Church On Sunday, November 11 at 11:15 a.m. with Arnold & Jean Williams extending the warm welcome at the door; a fair atten- dance was on hand for the special day. Rev. Dale Davis spoke on "Remembrance" a timely message and brought many thoughts at this sad time of year; for all to think about! Robert Mairs read the list of those who lost their lives from this area dur- ing the Two World Wars. Scrip- ture taken from Amos 5: 18-24 & Matthew 25: 1-13. David Walker the reader. With Carol Mairs at the piano the quartet sang "Where is This Ol' World A-going"' and Beyond a Dream." The minister continued with "The Lord's Prayer' for the children's theme. Offering rec'd by Steven Mairs and Arnold Williams. Service closed with Benediction and Three Fold Amen. Nestleton U.C.W. Afternoon Unit On the afternoon of Nov. 6, 1:30 p.m. members of the Nestleton Afternoon Unit met at the attrac- tive old farm home of Anne Emer- son. Unit Leader Mabel Cawker chaired the meeting and opened with a cordial welcome to 8 members and 1 guest; and thoughts re-'"What makes a good community." It was nice to have Leone Passmore of London, a friend of Anne with us. Her hus- band Ken was a Second World War Flying buddy of Edgar. Roll Call - A card for a shut-in. Minutes were read by Sec'y Barb Weir and approved. Cards were signed for Norma Frew in Oshawa Hospital and Irene McKee in Port Perry Hospital. Treasurer Neta Fish gave the financial statement. Jean Williams reported on the Oshawa Presbyterian Regional meeting at Hampton, attended by four members of Nestleton. Barb Weir gave a report of Communi- ty Care Luncheon & program held at Blackstock this past Thurs. afternoon. The recent Villa pro- gram by Nestleton U.C.W. was reported by Neta Fish.
