Silver Cross Mother Mrs. Rahm. ia wreath on A beligl of all mothers who lost sons: n combat. } Veterans braved the chilly winds Sunday morning in Re- membrance Day service to honour their comrades who fell in battle. Legion Branch 419 Colour Guard marches to position in front of the Cenotaph. Report from Legion Branch 419 by Paul Saulnier Peace is not the absence of tension, but the presence of jus- tice. Let us all pray for peace. November 11 this year brought us all close to remem- bering all wars and made us think how close we are to war now. Having been in a war, I know what our forces feel like. I ask all who read this to tie a yellow ribbon around a tree for our men and women in Per- sian Gulf. On my way to Blackstock last Saturday for the Remem- brance Day Service, I saw many signs on the road-side. But the one that caught my eye said "Lest we Forget." On Sunday, I had the hon- our of taking part in the Service at Branch 419 in Port Perry. It was my task to escort sil- ver cross mother Mrs. Rahm and Mrs. Connie Glass as they placed wreaths in front of the Cenotaph. What fine ladies they are, and it was a honour to stand with them. Doug Butt reports that shut-ins are feeling better, and he still visits them each month. Tayla Diamond was the re- cent winner of the 50-/50 draw, and John Grieves sold the win- ning ticket. Dave Taylor and Kathy Cannon were winners of a roast and steaks at the recent dance. On December 7, Christmas plants will be distributed to shut-ins and the seniors by Doug Butt and president Norm Budd. On December 14, members of the Legion will be visiting the hospital and nursing home to sing Christmas Carols. Anyone wishing to take part be at the Legion Hall at 6:30 PM. In closing, I would like to leave you with these words about Our Heritage. "They tell us the twilight is falling. Fall- ing on heads turning grey. That soon there will be no reme- brance of warriors long gone away." Keep this verse and in the next three up-dates, I will give you more of the poem.
