The final tally is in, and last month's Gala Fundraising Dinner and Art Auction has raised just over $6,000 for the Scugog Memorial Library's Collection Development Fund. This means that, thanks to the community's support, approximately 250 new books and other items will be add- ed to the Library's shelves in the near future. Part of the support came in the form of the Buy-A-Book Lottery. Jean Cuddie of Port Perry was PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, November 13, 1990 -- 23 $6,000 raised for Library the lucky winner of a trip for two to Jamaica. And, everyone else who purchased a ticket will have their name entered in the front of a new book purchased by the Library. A list of these donors and the books purchased in their names will soon be posted at the Library. The Library would like to thank all those who attended and especially those whose contribu- tions made this first-ever event such a success. The artists who have exhibited at the Library + Now at your ERIVETE "FORD'LINCOLN MERCURY DEALERS over the y were extremely generous in their donations of art- work. Thanks also go to Kent Farndale and Don Cochrane who conducted the auction. Many local businesses donated goods and ser- vices, and Canada World Youth gave their time to set up the room and serve the meal, which was catered by Patti's Own Kitchen, And finally, the library expresses its appreciation to Don Harron, whose humour made the evening one Scugog won't forget for a long while. A friendly witch dropped into the Port Perry Star office re- cently to tell us how much money the Greenbank and Ep- som areas raised for UNICEF. The school children collected $568 and a Halloween party at the Greenbank Hall raised $17. The total is double what the schools raised last year.
