I suspect they will long remember this special day. This was a special week for three local girl guides when they were presented with the Canada Cord, the highest award possible in Girl Guiding. On Monday even- ing Tonya Bunton from Orono and Andrea Hartmann from Kendal, were presented with the Canada Cord at St. Saviour's Church in Orono. On Tuesday I attended a similar presentation for Jaime Luke at a girl guides meeting in Pontypool. I was pleased to pre- sent scrolls to Tonya, Andrea and Jaime, on behalf of the Ontario Government in recognition of their outstanding achievements. At the Ministry of the Solicitor General I have been involved with 'Crime Prevention Week' which kicked-off on November 4th. The theme this year is "You Don't Need a Uniform to Join our, Team." Crime prevention week recognizes and pays tribute to members of the community in- cluding police officers who are working to make our com- munities safer and more secure. This year, the Ministry is working closely with Crime Prevention Ontario (CPO), a newly created provincial working group of com- munity and police members dedicated to preventing crime. On Friday, I spent the day as the guest of Ontario Hydro visiting the Darlington Nuclear Plant. I was pleased to have the opportunity to meet with union stewards from different unions at the plant as well as with opera- tional staff and management. The meetings were cordial and very useful, giving all of us the oppor- tunity to better understand each other. I look forward to continu- ing this good working relationship with all those who provide us with energy from Darlington. On Friday and Saturday even- ings, I was privileged to present Ontario Scholarships to graduates at Commencement Exercises at Port Perry High School and Cart- wright High School. Saturday was spent hearing from constituents at the newly opened office at the Veltri Com- plex, 68 King St. East, Bowman- ville. My consituency assistants, Jenny and Kelly, and I, gain a great deal of personal satisfaction in helping constituents. If we can be of assistance to you please call our office. Till next week - be kind to each other.
