J'lease take particular note of the six advantages to In- tensive Recycling: 1. Year round Employment of local people. Intensive recycling involves sorting of recyclables and reusable items in indoor buildings in a factory-type set- ting. With recent layoffs and cut- backs there is a need to create jobs locally. 2. Tax Dollars staying in the Region. With Intensive recycling the cost of handling garbage is made up of mostly labour, building and trucking cost. There could be several sorting stations around the region which would help to decentralize investment and employment opportunities. With a large raw waste landfill or incineration, the large upstart capital cost would probably leave the area. 3. A one step garbage system. if it is the sole system of garbage pickup. Consider that up until now the recycling pickup has been an extra cost pickup. Reducing one pickup would help to make Inten- sive Recycling viable. 4. Place more responsibility in the hands of local citizens. I feel that the general public is ready to begin this new system. It is true that a proposed new raw waste Have a good day on November 13th, 1990.
