Port Perry Pee Wee 2's split see-saw battle with tough Bowmanville squad The Port Perry Pee Wee II team came away from a home and home series with Bowman- ville with a tie and a loss. The Scugog Overhead Door squad travelled to Bowmanville on Oc- tie. After a scoreless first period, Bowmanville opened the scoring early in the second, only to be answered by Port's Greg Thomp- son on a play set up by Kirk Swain. Before the period ended, however, Bowmanville netted their second goal to take the lead. Early in the third period, the opposition increased the gap, making it 3-1. Thompson and Swain teamed up again for Port's second goal, this time with the goal going to Kirk and an addi- tional assist going to Matt Phillips. This see-saw battle continued through the third - Bowmanville scored again and then Port com- ing back. This time, it was Phillips getting the goal with Thompson and Jason Logan assisting. The final goal which tied the game was scored by Lumbermen fight back fo tie Wreckers 3-3 in last minute of play Bored with Maple Leaf Hockey? There's lots of good hockey to watch right here in Port Perry! Friday morning saw the second battle this season between the Lake Scugog Lumber team and Whitby Auto Wreckers. This match-up proved to be a little dif- ferent than the first. Lake Scugog Lumber opened an early lead on a pretty three way play. Justin Sheehey started the play with a smooth pass to Aaron Levy. As Aaron broke inon net, he feathered a pass over to David Clouthier who drove it home for the games opening marker. Not to be denied, Whitby Auto Wreckers tied the score before the end of the 1st period, on a blister- ing shot by Mark Sauter unassisted. Lake Scugog took the lead again early in the second. David Crouter made a nice check and threw the puck up to Aaron Levy who raced in for the score. But the lead was short lived. Whitby Auto responded minutes later to tie the score a second time. Mark Sauter picked up a clearing pass from Scugog's end, moved it across to Ben Stephenson who quickly set up Chris Orr and Chris put it away for the tie. It looked like Whitby Auto would take the lead as Lake Scugog took a penalty late in the second. However, excellent penal- ty killing by Lake Scugog held things even. Last Friday evening, Bowman- ville was hosted by Port Perry, but refused to be accommodating guests. Port Perry's Brad Shanley opened the scoring after taking a clearing pass from Kevin Gray and Chris Drury. With only minutes left in the third, Whitby Auto took the lead for the first time. A pic- ture perfect passing play; Ben Stephenson to Chris Jamieson to Mark Sauter sent them ahead 3-2 and seemed to seal the doom of the Scugog Lumber team.
